Salvadorean Liga MB round 8 best performance: Bernardo Polanco- October 15, 2021
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 52 points and 11 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Cojute (#9, 0-6) with 32-point margin 102-70. San Salvador maintains the 2nd position in Salvadorean Liga MB. They are still close to the very top. San Salvador would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 7-1 record. In the team's last game Polanco had a remarkable 90.9% from 2-point range and got seven three-pointers out of 16 attempts. He turned to be San Salvador's top player in his first season with the team. Bernardo Polanco has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 39.7ppg. Polanco is in league's top in and averages impressive 2.4spg and 68.9% FGP. The second best player in last round's games was 31-year old American Marc Montavious (206-C-90) of Santa Ana. Montavious had a very good evening with a double-double of 22 points and 18 rebounds. Of course Santa Ana cruised to a 66-58 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Santa Tecla (#3, 6-2). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Santa Ana consolidated its place in top 4 of the standings. His team's 5-2 record is not bad at all. Montavious is a newcomer at Santa Ana, but is already one of team's top players. Third on the list of top players last round was Puerto Rican center Giovanny Martinez (206-C) of El Rapido (#7). Martinez scored 27 points and grabbed eighteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of El Rapido, leading his team to a 90-85 win against Santiagueno (1-5). El Rapido can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-5 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Martinez has individually a great season in El Salvador. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.7rpg (6th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Brayan Garcia (194-F/C-98) of Aguila - 17 points and 15 rebounds 5. E.J. Blackwell (193-G) of Santiagueno - 31 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Zekiah Owens (197-G/F-98) of Cojute - 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists 7. Eddie Ishman (197-G/F-86) of San Salvador - 12 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists 8. Ramiro Trebucq (204-PF-95) of Aguila - 10 points, 17 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Xavier Eaglin (201-PF-97) of Santiagueno - 22 points and 7 rebounds 10.
